Fantastic paralel here. The curtailment flexibilty angle is crucial and often overlooked in these comparisons. Bitcoin miners can functinally shut off during peak demand which makes them useful for grid balancing, but AI datacenters need 24/7 uptime. Communities dunno they're signing up for inflexible baseload until the bills hit, and that's when the real friction starts even if companies are covering upgrades upfront.
